Food Production Manager

Sun Basket is adding an experienced, ambitious Food Production Manager to its growing East Coast Distribution Center. The Food Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for our prep and ready to eat departments. The Manager ensures that all processes are being followed through effective leadership and management of 100 + team members and partnership with other departments with the end result of delivering excellent product to our customers.
Essential Functions:
Implement and managing and streamlining effective processes related but not limited to: cooking, chilling and overall food handling processes.
Partner with cross-functional teams to draft and implement policies, training, and gather best practices for all topics related to food production of Sun Basket, Inc's meals.
Responsible for reporting and creating KPI metrics for the Prep and Ready to Eat Departments.
Provide leadership to the Prep and Ready to Eat Departments through effective daily management of staff, planning, scheduling of deliveries for products, quality control as well as other good manufacturing processes.
Partner with Facility's Leadership Team to work on assigned projects, communicate changes, provide insight on trends and work on continuous improvement assignments as needed to deliver quality product to our customers.
Oversee food and safety standards within area of responsibility at all times, adhering to all State and Federal occupational and food safety guidelines as well as GMP's.
Use interpersonal and communication skills to motivate the workforce, relay growth opportunities, drive execution of policies and implement corrective measures if necessary to ensure productivity levels are met.
Forecast employment needs within department budget and effectively communicate these to the assigned team(s).
Assigned main contact for quality control for food & packaging products coming into the prep room.
Responsible for preventing and or resolving all quality issues on all perishable goods, maintaining product integrity through processes of product temperature verification and refrigeration operation as well as cold chain maintenance.
Partner with QC Manager to develop and implement policies and procedures for identification of product damage and rodent/pest control in all food storage areas and temperatures.
Manage inventory levels in the prep rooms, ensuring that yield rations are being followed.
Manage proper rotation and storage. Make sure products are used on a FEFO basis.
Ensure products are stored in the correct rooms, i.e.: (1) tomatoes do NOT get stored in the vegetable room (too cold), (2) Wet product is not stored up high only to drip onto other products, and so forth.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
5+ years of Leadership experience in a food production, manufacturing, distribution or similar environment required .
Prior management experience with 100+ employees.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationship across multiple levels of the organization
Ability to work cross-functionally and independently as needed
Experience with creating and implementing policies across all levels of the organization
Demonstrated knowledge of processes such as but not limited to: cooking, chilling, quality control, ready to eat, food preparation, OSHA, Department of Health and others required
Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
Ability to work calmly under pressure, adapt to change and deal with ambiguity Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment, 10-40 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 or more hours per day/ 5-6 day per work week Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Ability to manage through ambiguity Ability to work a variety of schedules, including weekend, nights and overtime as needed Extensive experience in food handling, procurement and vendor management
Knowledge of agriculture, produce, and raw materials
Encompass high standards both in production and employee performance

Typical Work Week:
Must be able to work in an open office environment but will require time in a refrigerated food production environment . The employee must be able to frequently operates a computer and other warehouse machinery, including but not limited to pallet jacks and forklifts
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear; bends at the waist and neck frequently, raises items above the shoulders, repetitive hand usage, pushing and pulling items, twisting at the waist and neck, walking, grasping with light and firm force and reaching for items frequently.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and 100 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision. depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Position requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
