NP/ PA (psych experience)

Seeking an NP or PA to handle psych evaluations and services to adolescent children in group homes. Looking for 25 hour per week NP covering 4 programs in South Jersey but can also hire a full time person if they are a good fit.
-30 miles radius of driving from their Mount Holly location, each program has 5 kids per home, most of the visits take place in afternoon since kids are in school during the day but typical days ends around 5-5:

General Description

The APN is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day psychiatric management for his/her specific residential treatment program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participate and maintain a joint protocol and a collaborative agreement with the agency appointed Medical Director.

Participate in medical case conferences with the Medical Director at mutually agreed intervals.

Comply with practice standards set forth by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing and agency policies.

Participate in the admission process for clients that are admitted to the residential treatment program. Namely, assessment of psychiatric stability, medication consents, pre-treatment clinical assessments and initial psychiatric assessment (within 48 hours).

Order and interpret diagnostic testing on assigned clients.

Manage acute and chronic psychiatric issues for assigned clients.

Provide occasional emergency determination of psychiatric instability requiring SCIP screening

Conduct monthly medication reviews on assigned clients.

Participate in weekly treatment team meetings

Provide weekly medication monitoring for clients on psychotropic medications

Serve as a liaison between client and appropriate TCH employees.

Be an active participant in interdisciplinary and treatment team meetings as is relevant, appropriate and necessary.

Provide quarterly psychiatric evaluations for clients not on psychiatric medications

Access and review the medication documentation in the Electronic Medication Administration Record (EMAR)

Communicate and collaborate with members of the client's treatment team to assist the client's psychiatric welfare while in residential placement.

Understand and comply with Office of Licensing requirements and DCPP regulations

Keep abreast of federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards governing APNs. Make recommendations to Nursing Director

Physical/Mental Requirements

Excellent time management and organization skills to adequately manage caseload
Manual dexterity and normal mental and visual attention
Computer competence in general office applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, calendar, computer based EMAR applications)
Mental requirements include, but are not limited to:
the ability to concentrate, take initiative, multi-task, cope with stress, stay alert, collaborate with others, work independently and use independent judgment to accomplish desired results.
Successful and on-going completion of the organization approved Safe Crisis Management (SCM) program
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (writing sample required)

Experience/Education
Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing in addition to a Master's of Science in Nursing
Advanced Practice Certificate from an accredited institution
Possess and maintain licensure as a Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the State of NJ
Possess and maintain licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of NJ
Prefer experience with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed, abused/neglected, and/or psychiatrically impaired child/adolescent population with strong working knowledge of psychotropic medications.
APN experience preferred
Possess and maintain current professional CPR certification
Current driver's license with good driving record
Participate in a minimum of twelve (30) hours of training per year inclusive of 10 hours of psycho-pharmacology
Maintain National Certification as APN


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
